World Cup 2019 Highlights

150 150 Fareeha Javed

All the best moments

A lot of people including us are now asking themselves a dreadful question; “World-cup tu khatam ab kiya karen?” Since the past one and a half months, cricket fans have been thoroughly enjoying the nail biting cricket matches while supporting their favourite teams. As a Pakistani its almost a crime to not spend your evening while sitting in front of your television screaming at the state of our team and simultaneously sharing memes on face book and twitter. Cricket is not just a sport, it is a part of culture.

Now that it is finally over and England has managed to finally become champions at their own game, we have compiled all the best moments from 2019’s world cup as an ode to our favourite game.

1) When Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed wore traditional Pakistani shalwar kameez to meet the Queen of England and received unnecessary criticism,

And not only Pakistanis but even Indians came to his defence in the most beautiful moment of unity we witnessed between the two.

Thank you Captain for upholding our traditions in the face of western culture.

2) After the defeat against West Indies Pakistanis had low expectations but surprisingly Team Pakistan managed to win against the WC favourite Team England and Pakistani social media was shook

Slap in the face of logic, indeed!

3) Mohammad Amir ka dil jeetnay wala comeback!

mazaak hai ke biryani?

while there were stabs made at the arch nemesis, India

4)The birth of the Meme – Legend,

His face is a perfect mix of disappointment and anger every Pakistani fan experiences when our players refuse to field well in any match.

the meme-fanatics went crazy over this man and quite literally made him famous,

cmon dad blame climate change,

even ICC jumped in on it,

5) when Team Pakistan lost to India, but the humour never died

there were attacks at the Captain and his fitness,

Pakistanis slowly lost all hope,

and of course everyone’s favourite reaction, Pakistani Vlogger Momin Saqib ranting over Pakistan’s defeat,

all of us @ Team Pakistan’s performance against Team India, “ye mazak horeya hai?”

6) The on-going 1992 conspiracy theory,

the similarities were so strong even ICC itself caught up,

but once the tournament started taking a different turn, Pakistanis started making fun of their own misery,

7) India’s loss, Pakistan’s redemption

damn right, it is a victory!

8) The epic, nail-biting Final!

the over -throw that got Stokes his victory,

some people are still questioning it

the super-over that caused all of us to scream at our screens,

England might have won the worldcup but this man right here won everyone’s hearts!

absolute whirlwind of emotions!

Which PSL 2018 songs won hearts?

Aysha Binte Amin

Pakistan Cricket Board blessed the Pakistanis with our very own T20 cricket league, PSL, in 2015. The first tournament was held in 2016 in Dubai, where Islamabad United won. Second PSL was held 2017 in UAE, in which Peshawar Zalmi won. This year, PSL is going to be held UAE again with its final in Karachi.

Cricket fever is not just unfolds merely because of the event, but also because of things related to it, specially the theme songs. Each year, we get more than one anthem to put on replay. But would this year we’d still be playing 2016 or 2017 tracks?

2016 – Ali Zafar – “Ab Khel Ke Dikha De”

This song sent the entire nation into a state of frenzy due to its sick tune and catchy chants. The madness was unbelievable, and guess what? The madness still continues everytime this tune is heard.

2017 – Ali Zafar – “Ab Khel Jamega”

Ali Zafar back once again with his strong game gave us one of the top PSL songs which was played everywhere on repeat till our respective phones ran out of battery (I know mine did). It was an electrifying track sending chills down our spines.

2018 – Ali Zafar – “Dil Se Jaan Laga De”

This year the official song is rather soulful and upbeat combo than electrifying. The chant once again is really catchy and you’ll find yourself singing it through your day. Even the lyrics are thoughtful and sentimental this year.

So which one of the official songs is your favorite till date that you’ll be playing on your speaker throughout February and March?

All that went down at PSL 3 Opening Ceremony

The 2018 Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicked off on Thursday with a glitzy opening ceremony at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Following a countdown to the big launch, the event officially began with Sachal Orchestra playing the national anthem of Pakistan.

Why Hareem Farooq was dressed as eastern Barbie doll (not to mention that her dress was as bright as the trophy itself)  and Bilal Ashraf was yet a western Ken? Well, no doubt they both looked stunning in their outfits but Bilal Ashraf’s stylist could have thought a bit while dressing him up for the Opening ceremony which is supposed to represent Pakistan across the globe.

Had Hareem Farooq worn a western dress with thigh high cuts and short sleeves the Patriotic Police would have raided her with criticism but since it was a boy he is excused!

Moments later, Ali Zafar took the center stage and entertained the crowd with a special PSL rendition of his famous track, Rockstar.

Ali Zafar took us back to Subway Surfer rides where we get to see the  hover board for the first time and we just don’t want to get off it!

Coming towards our popstar SHEHZAD ROY, dude! if you are so uncomfortable dancing with girls JUST DONT DO IT.
It will make you look less awkward on screen and will also support your activist image.

The fireworks added the charm to the ceremony and were literally beautiful
